The year 2012 has finally loomed upon us and so are the hearsays about the impending end of the world. Even the doomsday believers have started counting the remaining days before December 21, 2012, the apocalypse as predicted by the Mayans. Many believe that a credible source of evidence is the Mayan calendar, but no one knows if it is really the end or just the hint of another year cycle. Besides, our tenacious planet Earth has survived many apocalypse predictions already.
No one knows exactly how is the end of the world going to happen, but several ancient seers, even the Bible, had described what may occur. When end of the world predictions is being talked about, the name Nostradamus is inevitably mentioned because of his world famous prophecies. Among his prophecies that were believed had come true are the French Revolution, Hitler’s transgressions, the assassination of the Kennedy brothers, the World Wars I and II, the death of Princess Diana, and the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Analogous series of events mentioned in his quatrains did occur in real life. But, will his prediction on the World War III and the rise of the Antichrist from the Middle East will coincide with great geological troubles he mentioned? There will be bloodbath, famine, earthquakes, flood, drought, volcanic eruptions, and massive war from leaders with strife.
In the Bible, the Book of Revelation tells of the catastrophes and seven plagues that await mankind for the second coming of Christ, which will mark the end of the world but a rebirth of the new age of our race. In this resurrection, only those who follow God’s commandments will be worthy of His reward.
There was another prediction linking astronomical events such as the coronal mass ejection. It is prophesied in Isaiah 30: 26-27: “Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound.” The massive burst of the solar wind will release colossal electromagnetic radiation that may fire up the entire solar system. However, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) reassures the public that there is no exceptional risk of giant solar flare in December, although such event occurs every 11 years. There might be interruption of satellite communications but not any physical destruction on earth or in our solar system.
The idea of the end of the world is too extensive to grasp. The comparable prophecies can only inform us the possibility of such event as an option to make better our lives but only the Supreme Being, the mover of all that is existing, shall perform the end.

Hi, I'm Rick and I've been studying the 2012 Mayan prophecy ever since Y2K came and went. I hope you enjoy my blog and find some useful information here.
And along the way I hope you learn something from the Mayans. Perhaps we can avoid the 21 December 2012 end of times!
