There is a lot of speculation concerning the things that might happen in the year 2012. Most of it has been tied with the predictions made by ancient civilizations, the most notable of which are the ones made by the ancient Mayans. It has something to do with their calendar. Scholars say that this calendar is set to end in December 2012 and that when the calendar ends the world will be destroyed. There are more predictions being tied to the year 2012 and other ancient civilizations are also used to foretell of these calamities.
The theorists who are claiming that the world will be destroyed by the year 2012 say that this will happen because of a planet that is on a collision course with the Earth. They say that the Mayans had discovered the planet and the orbit, and that is why they marked the ending of their calendar for that time. Others say that the ancient Mesopotamians also discovered the planet and its course which will take it dangerously close to our planet Earth. This planet is called Nibiru by the Mesopotamians. There has been a flood of information regarding what will happen in 2012 and the different doomsday scenarios. Unfortunately little of that information can be trusted to provide real facts. So how does one go about figuring whether there is any truth behind all of the Nibiru 2012 predictions that we are getting these days?
It all started with a writer and scholar of ancient documents named Zecharia Sitchin. He has published his discoveries in his books, and they revealed the discovery that ancient people were aware of planets that are said to be on a collision course with us. This knowledge was supposedly handed down to the ancient Sumerians by beings from another planet called, Anunnaki , which means, “beings from heaven”. These beings are from the planet Nibiru and they gave the Sumerians all of their knowledge about science.
Scientists and scholars are calling all of the predictions and theorists concerning the year 2012 as nothing better than pseudoscience. They say that there has been no absolute scientific proof for any of these theories that would make them out to be real. They say that there is no such planet like Nibiru, and that it is all just part of Sitchin’s imagination that has been picked up by those who are eager for some conspiracy theories, and opportunists who would like to profit from people who are willing to believe these lies.
In the past few years we have seen hundreds of books concerning what will happen in 2012. Several movies have also been shot dealing with the subject, and the Internet is also filled with information about it, including yours truly 
. People are becoming more and more interested in the matter in spite of themselves. Scientists from NASA and other agencies and scientific institutions have come out recently and have tried to pooh-pooh the theories set forth in these predictions. Their statements however have not stopped all the speculation that’s going on, in fact it has even fueled it. We need to hear something more concrete from the scientists concerning this matter.
Denying something is one thing, but when you can’t take the time to show the layman in layman’s terms what is going on then it allows for the imagination to speculate. Could it be that scientists just don’t have the ability to see far enough into space for this planet Nibiru or planet X as some call it that is on a crash course with planet earth. One needs to remain skeptical but one should also be prepared for any calamity that might come too. It is always a good idea to have some survival gear for worst case scenarios.
